VERBATIM
Documents obtained by the San Antonio Express-News highlight the turmoil and backlash airport and elected officials faced for the vote back in March.
The paper said over 1000 messages were sent from the public to these officials, informing them of their opinion.
Of that total… only 12 were supportive of the vote… and none of them were from LGBTQ San Antonians.
At the time of the vote… Councilman Roberto Trevino said he was pushing to exclude Chick-fil-A from the airport because of the LGBTQ community.
In a text exchange with his now-former chief of staff about the idea of having another vote on the matter… mayor Ron Nirenberg wrote in caps the Chick-fil-A matter was a NONISSUE.
